About Our School

St. Patrick’s N.S. is a small, rural school situated three miles outside the town of Delvin. We currently have two class teachers, a full time SEN teacher and a part time SEN teacher. We pride ourselves on the caring, family atmosphere of the school.

St Patrick’s N.S. is a school which reflects the character and diversity of the community in which it is set. In this context, each child’s unique academic, spiritual and social gifts are cherished. Our aim is that all children should leave St Patrick’s N.S. with the skills of reading, writing and numeracy, an enthusiasm for learning, a thirst for knowledge, an appreciation of their religion and of the world they live in, and above all, many happy memories.

The aim of St. Patrick’s N.S. is to provide a Christian, caring, learning environment which facilitates the nurturing of each pupil’s full educational potential. The achievement of this aim informs all of the planning processes and activities which occur in our school. Teachers and parents are partners in the children’s education, with co-operation and communication between home and school being vital ingredients in the educational process. We share a common aim which is the well being of the children in our care.

St. Patrick’s N.S. operates in accordance with the Educational Act 1998 and the Rules for National Schools as determined by the Department of Education and Science.
